This was the first holiday package that Waldenbooks presented a unified face to the customer; through comprehensive instore marketing, catalog, direct marketing as well as email marketing. Another milestone this year was partnering with beloved author/ illustrator Mary Engelbreit to create exciting illustrations for all of the season’s marketing initiatives. Her spot illustrations appeared sprinkled throughout the catalog, inshore magazine Waldenbook Report, as well as the direct marketing vehicle The Preferred Reader Exclusive. She enjoyed being highlighted in over 900 stores in all 50 states, and we thrived by using iconography that appealed to our readership.
